TEAM LEADER Mr. Derek Robertson Having addressed every aspect of ecologically sustainable economic and social development as a member of Parliament and senior public servant in Australia, and having worked on Australias national Agenda-21 state of the environment report, Derek was logical choice to lead the UNDP/GEF funded team preparing the Indonesian Agenda-21 Report from 1994-6. Since the completion of the UNDP project, Derek has worked in community development projects for UNESCO in Sumatra, conducted project assessment and review for Ausaid in East Timor, and re-established the largest ongoing international development project between Australia and Indonesia, namely the A$20 million/year ADS post graduated scholarship program. Since 1999, Derek has been Principal Educational Consultant to Australian International Schools of Indonesia in which position he has continued to develop educational links between the Australian school in Jakarta and Bali and their respective local communities, providing training opportunities for teachers and lectures from Indonesian schools and universities. Most recently this training has been extended to encompass aspects of environmental education and broad-based capacity building to which it is hoped the Darwin Centre would become a major contributor. Dereks long experience in working with and within government in both Australia and Indonesia, his extensive link with international agencies, his strength in project management, and his skill as a team leader will greatly strengthen his contribution.
